Week 9 - Challenge 1 - Base Bracket Design

BASE BRACKET

DRAFT ANALYSIS

A draft analysis is used to see if the draft of a part is sufficient for the molding process and if the part will separate correctly from the mold.If the draft analysis require two features one is surface ,and another one is tooling axis

TOOLING DIRECTION

STEP TO CREATE TOOLING DIRECTION

  • To check the feasibility of the tooling direction
  • create a point along the a surface
  • create a intersection curve by the reference of a surface
  • choose the two point to make a line ,based on intersection curve along both side
  • To create a bi-secting line based on the reference of two lines
  • The bi-secting line as a tooling axis

CLASS A SURFACE

To check the feasibility of manufacturing parts using the draft analysis

CLASS B SURFACE

It consist of two ribs and base parts

RIBS

Extracting the required surface for making the ribs

untrim the extract surface is to attain the original state

Extrapolate to extend the boundry of the untrim surface

Trim the unwanted surface

Offset the surface to required thickness 2.5 mm

For easy understanding to make a varient

The same operation has done on other side for rib 2

To extraxt the center base surface and untrim the surface also extrapolate the surface ,to offset the required thickness of 2.5mm

The above operation same as base surface

CLASS C SURFACE

Withe the reference of class a and tooling direction to create class c

In the swept tool has been used ,with the help of tooling direction

After creating the sweep to join the class A and class C

To Trim the unwanted surface with the reference based on class b surface

The final required part has been created

The part has converted in to closer part using the part design tool bar close surface

Final draft analysis has been done
