Week 9 - Challenge 1 - Base Bracket Design
REPORT:
Class A Surface
Tooling axis
The Tooling axis is through a process. It starts with visual analysis. We check where to create a tooling axis in the object.
The best position for tooling axis in this object was at the middle hole.the create a dummy tooling axis at point in the Z direction. Then we created a point in between the hole and the creare a plan parallel to the ZY plan at the point created. Then intersected the A surface to that plane1. The drawn two lines at the slanding lines at both sides using point-point type method, and then draw a new line using bisecting method with the other two lines drawn ("line 2"&"line 3").This line is the Tooling axis.
Draft analysis of Class A Surface
* Changed to the view mode details.
*Select the Draft analysis
- Select the compass option
- select and drag the compass and place on the tolling axis near the hole.
- Lock the compass
- and press ok
When draft alaysis done the color of the base bracket changes to green
Class B Surface
Class b surface is created with 4 Geometrical sets
1) RIB 1:
Extrude
Surface untrim
Extrapolated the surfaces
Trimed the surfaces
Offseted the surfave to 2.5mm to create the rib1 for surface B
2) RIB 2:
Rib 2 is created the same way at the other side
3) Base surface
Extract
Untrim
offset
extract
untrim
offset
Extrapolate
4)Final trim
B surface( after edge fillets)
Class C Surface
Boundry: created a boundary using the class a surface.
sweep that boundary to create c surface
Created boundaries for the holes
Then sweep that holes
Then joined both the holes sweeps, class c surface and class A surface together using the join.
Final trim
Finally trimmed the joined surfaces and B surface
Close surface
The trimmed surface is turned into a solid body using the closed surface.
