Week 9 - Challenge 1 - Base Bracket Design

AIM: To create a solid part of brace bracket from a given class-A surface.

STEPS OF CREATING TOOLING AXIS:

1.Call in the class-A surface of the product.Create a gemetric set as tooling axis.

2. Taking a point at the circular blank part and masking a axis along the original axis system of the part.Because it is a special feature of the part and it's posistioning at centre of the component.

3. By using intersected command, intersect the class-A surface.

4.Taking two lines at the edges of the drafted part and make a bisected line out of it.As this bisected line is infinite, using trim to make it finite distance and this the possible draft angle direction.

DRAFT ANALYSIS:

1. Applying command draft analysis and select the component.

2.Bring the compass and align it along the tooling axis and lock it.

3.By colour bars of different draft (either positive if green or negative if blue) angle range check. Make positive draft angle side as 3.

The blue colour is range of negative draft side as shows in 'mode' colour bar.

STEPS OF CLASS-B & C SURFACE CREATION:

1.Untrim the centre blank feature.

2.Extract the drafted surface and walls.

3.Untrim the surfaces and extrapolated them.

4.Trim them.

5.Now same steps 1to4 followed for base surface.

6. Check fillet and the fillet value of outer feture for the offset surface is,

=original fillet value of class-A surface+thickness/offset value(as, it is constant volume process)

7.Created B-surface.

8. Extract Boundary of Class-A surface by using 'boundary' command or extract command.

9.By using sweep option with draft direction where the tooling axis act as draft direction, created class C-surface.

10.Join class-A and class-C surface and trim the class-B surface with the join surface.

11. Now changing the module from generative surface to part design and using 'closed' command make the surface into solid.
