Week 9 - Attachment Feature Creation (Ribs & Screw Boss) - Challenge 1
DOOR HANDLE WITH RIBS AND SCREW BOSS:
Darft analysis:
- Draft is a provide an angle to plastic component with cavity to reduce the friction .
- without having the draft it may causes the shape was resized .Output of a component is become unsatisfied.
- The minimum draft to any plastic component should be 2.5mm hence the class A surface of door handle is analysed for a draft..
- Hence in order to have minimum sidecore involvement and minimum cost we must have the tooling axis in line to the axis of the base at the surface centre.
- Draft analysis can be done through tooling axis . select a compass on the draft analysis set on the tooling axis and lock it.
- Select the material option customized view parameters click ok.
- click on the surface it will be visible as green in colour. Class A and Class C surface are in positive angle and Class B to be negative angle.
- in the class-A surface have a conflict on that it was not come draft analysis of 2.9degree but it was showing errror .it was goes with 0.49degree.
- Class-A engineer was create a tooling axis with 0.49degree.
Tooling axis:
- Commonly we are consider holes in the class A surface than class A engineer was consider to construct a tooling axis from centre of the circle
- But here have a two flat surfaces one is at rectangle shape and other is on the curve surface.
- We have visulaized the diagram in certain directions in y direction image was totally appeared.
- use point direction draw a line in y direction finally it is a final tooling axis.
- we have do another method bisecting metyhod to check form axis system take xy axis and intersect with class-A surface .Take a points draw a lines parallel and bisect them line was formed in y direction .
- Again we do draft analysis on bisect method same result like point direction
- Use this tooling axis do the drafting analysis on the Class-A surface for intial and final conversion of solid surface draft analysis.
- Tooling axis can be form through Bisected method , Normal surface method, point direction method .
Construction:
For every surface geometric set are to be added to choose easy to understand .
Body was in the part body.
Class -B surface:
- first we are offset the given class into down direction.
- Change the graphic colour to offset .one patch was appear.
- make a boundary on the sides of patch than use multisection command to fill the patch than join with offset.
- Extrapolate the B surface on checking intersection with surface in the visibility of black dots for that area only extrapolate.
Class -C surface:
- select the outer boundary of the Door handle of Class-A use reference surface sweep with 87degree and join with Class-A surface
- If their is any gaps check with intersection command their any black points are visible are not.If visible to extrapolate that surface to fill.
- Join A +C
Final trim:
- Select joint of Class-C and Class -A trim with class -B to remove unwanted material finally of wanted object material was formed .
- For checking their any gaps in the surface to check use boundary to click on the surface its shows error means thier is no any gap.
After that Define part body with the command of closed surface in the part work bench to make a surface body into solid body.
Publications:
Class-A,Class-B,Class-C and Tooling Axis publications are in the Publication part body.
Ribs:
- Extract a surface of B than use sketch construct a line and extrude the line in tooling direction .with height of 12.5mm and given a thickness of 0.5mm in both sides.
- give a draft angle 0.5mm in front, back and side surfaces take a neutral phase is extract surface pulling direction is tooling direction in upward direction .
- take a fillet as 0.25mm as on the phases of ribs.
- copy the body of rib and define subject of main part body paste as special with link in some distance and direction give them in 20mm of distance and direction of Z.
- Give a fillets for the second one .
- Design rules:
- Rib draft=0.5degree
- top thickness=0.75mm
- Rib fillet =0.25mm
- Rib length=<5*t. wall thickness=t
- Rib thickness=0.4*t =0.4*2.5=1
- check the rib is correct are no through like take intersect with part body and create a plane on the tooling axis the plane look like a middle of the rib.
- intersection was formed form a circle on the offset with two fillets and the bottom surface the circle is visible of radilus is1.473mm
- distance of two lines are 2.5mm.
- tip of the rib is 0.79mm.

Screw boss:
- Extract the surface make a sketch on the XY plane draw a circles on the plane with the distance of design rules and isoconstrained the lines.
- Create a body use pad command the length is 12mm and down side is 1mm it is used to materail was stick on the surface.
- Use union trim select on the top surface with part body.
- Give draftangle for the face of inner and outer as 0.5mm neutral as nultiextract and pulling direction is tooling axis in upward direction .
- give a filllet for 0.25mm for the phases of two screw bossses.
- Do a draft analysis on the surface.
- Design rules for the Screw boss
- Draft=0.5degree
- Thickness=0.6*t
- fillet radius =0.25mm
- heightto diameter ratio h/b<3.
Note:
I was using a software of 2011 version. so some graphic properties not visible and showing like a errors .please consider my request thank you.
