Week 9 - Attachment Feature Creation - Challenge 2

COIN HOLDER ATTACHMENTS DESIGN

Screw Boss Design

First we extract the base surface and a sketch is drawn as shown in figure.

The sketch is then extruded using the pad tool the part workbench.

In the same plane as the previous sketch a rib sketch is drawn.

Since its a line sketch, in the pad tool "thick" is checked to get 1mm thickness for the extrude.

The second pad is union trimmed with the previous pad and the inside surface is removed.

Dog House Design

The base surface is extracted and a open rectangle is sketched.

The base surface is offsetted after the sketch has been extruded with the tooling axis as extrude direction and a draft angle.

The offset surface is trimmed off to get a dog house surface.

This surface is thickened outside.

The dog house surface is offsected inside and also the base surface extract.

Thee unwanted surfaces are trimmed off.

This trimmed surface is used to split and remove a section from the dog house part.

The necessary drafts and fillets are given.

The screw boss is now translated on to the dog house and added to the rest of the assembly part body.

A side core tooling axis is created for the dog house creation.

Draft Analysis

Draft analysis is done for the dog house with respect to the main tooling axis, as we can see it clears the side walls. Draft angle =0.45 degree
