Week 9 - Attachment Feature Creation - Challenge 2

SUMMARY

In this report, we will see the part design of an object created with the help of a base surface(class A surface). Here we see the step-by-step procedure I have undergone throughout my design process and how the tree structure flows clearly.

WORKFLOW

The first step is the creation of tooling axis, with respect to the center of the surface. Tooling axis is the axis that determines the core and cavity movement in an injection molding machine. Tooling axis is created with the help of bisecting lines which is a reference of the walls of class A surface and a point on the surface normal.

The second step is to extract the surface from the given class A surface. The extracted surface is then untrimmed and extrapolated. The extrapolated surface is then offset as per the dimension and then it's trimmed perfectly to receive the desired shape of the object. This process is called B surface creation.

The third step is to give fillets on the appropriate edges, the values are measured from the class A surface. after the model is filleted perfectly as per the requirement. Trace the boundary with the boundary tool and with the help of the sweep command make a surface as per the requirement. Finally, trim the extra surface and the final output has arrived. Then go to the part workbench, and make a solid out of the surface using the close surface command. Then the desired plastic component is achieved.

The fourth step is the creation of dog house, as the position is not given properly. we can take the desired position closest to the image and start sketching the lines. After sketching the lines in a separate body, use the sweep command, thicken the drafted surface, make the cut required for dog house, and union trim it with the pard body and the step followed for dog house. Give the appropriate draft and fillet to the dog house.
