Week 9 - Attachment Feature Creation - Challenge 2
Aim:
The main objective is to create the Screw Boss and Dog House on the given Coin Holder Center Console Component.
Procedure:
- Create a Sketch on the Surface:
- To create the sketch on the surface, the bottom part of the Coin holder is extracted and the structure is selected.
- In the Sketcher Workbench, Draw a circle with the diameter of 8mm and hole diameter of 5.2mm.
- Exit the Sketcher Work Bench.
- Now, open a new Sketcher workbench and create a rib part by make lines intersecting with each other.
- Constraint it and Exit the Sketcher workbench.
- Create a Screw Boss:
- Select the Screw boss sketch and pad it to 12mm height and draft it to 0.5 Degree.
- Now Select the Ribs sketch and pad it to 10mm height and Follow the procedure above.
- After Padding the Ribs and the Screw Boss, Define a Part Body and union trim the intersecting Rib Parts with the Screw Boss Element.
- After the component is merged, Assemble it to the main part body.
- Create a Sketch for Dog House:
- To create a Dog house, Go to the Sketcher Workbench and create a rectangle with only 3 Sides and constraint it.
- Exit the Sketcher workbench.
- Extract the Surface:
- After exiting the sketcher workbench, Open the Generative Shape design and Sweep the Surfaces.
- Select the Guide Curve, the Tooling axis and the Draft angle for the surface.
- Create a top layer as closed body by using the Offset command. Now, join the surfaces together.
- Use Edge fillet command to give 0.25mm fillet region.
- Create a Solid Dog House:
- After the Edge fillet is given use the Thickness tool in the Part body to give the thickness.
- Now to reduce the sink marks, the thickness at the merging section is reduced to the 40% of the main tooling thickness.
- Now create an offset of the part to create the section.
- Trim that part with the Part body to remove the thickness.
- The Final Dog house is created.
- We can place the Screw boss above the Dog House and assemble to create the component.
Result:
The Dog House and Screw Boss are created on the Coin Holder center console.
