Week 9 - Attachment Feature Creation - Challenge 1
RIB DESIGN:
- Ribs are thin protrusions that extend perpendicular from a wall or plane to provide added stiffness and strength without increasing overall thickness of component.
RIB CREATION RULES:
- The following design rules should need consider while rib creation
- Draft angle ≥ 0.5°
- Thickness at tip ≥ 0.75mm
- Fillet radius (max) = 0.25mm
- Height or Depth ≤ 5*t [t=component wall thickness]
- Rib thickness W = 0.4*t
- Space b/w two ribs,
- Height/ width < 3
- Y/X < 3
- Root wall thickness is not more than the 30% of the wall thickness.
TOOLING AXIS CREATION:
- check the possible direction of tooling axis.
- Here the side walls are perpenticular to the base surface, so creating bisecting method to create tooling axis insteadwe can create normal line to the base surface.

DRAFT ANALYSIS:
- Do draft analysis for the given solid component

RIB CREATION
- Make sketch for create rib. create a line with dimentions and the sketch should be in fully constrained.
- Extrude the line along with tooling axis, with dimention of 5* wall thickness = 12.5mm

- for ease to assembly make 1mm extrude towards part inside.

- Thicken the extruded surface with thickness of 0.4*wall thickness = 1mm

- Make draft for this surface for all sides with minimum drfat angle 0.5degree.

- Assemble the rib with Body and make fillets.

RIB ROOT THICKNESS:
- To check rib root thickness, we have to perform intersection of body with rib.

- create circle between wall and rib and measure dimention of the circle.
- The diameter of the circle is rib root thickness.
- Ensure that the rib root thickness does not exit the 30% of wall thickness
- For thgis component the Rib root thickness = 2.701mm.
- It will not create sink while material flows.
