Week 8 - Universal Joint
Aim- To perfrom the transient analysis for the universal joint with spring with three different materials such stainless steel, structural steel and taitanium alloy.
Procedure-

we apply the stainless stell and taitnium alloy to the compoment with spring and for other materilas we apply the stainless steel.
2. we delete the default contacts an we ornide fixedjoint to the spring and revolute joint to the compoment 1 and 2 and to the all balls. the force is transittewd from one copoment to another compoment throuhj these revolute joint .

3. we mesh the compment with elemntal size of 3mm.

4.we provide analysis settings as

5. we provide joint load to the the one universal joint which is not connected to the spring

results
Eqivalent stress for structural steel

Equivalent strain for structural steel

Total Deformation for structural steel
Case 2 Stainless steel for universal joint attached to spring

Case 3- Titanium alloy

Conclusion-
From above case the high stress occurs in the structural steel due to low yield point and low strenhth and in the titanium alloy the stress is low due to high yielding poing and high strength henc the titanium is best material for design of the above copompent.
