Week - 8 - Morphing

Morphing is a technique used to transform geometry into another seamlessly, it is used in many automotive industries to transform hatchbacks to sedans.

Complex designs require great experience and technique but reduce a lot of effort of designing.

Aim - To morph the two given models using the free morphing technique.

Procedure -

Model 1 :

Open the cad model and give a topo command, check for geometrical errors:

Clear all the geometrical errors :

Define a new morphing box as shown :

With the move command translate the model :

Create morph boxes wherever required and change the model according to industrial needs :

After translating the model delete the morph boxes,

The final geometry is as shown :

Model 2 :

Open the cad model and check for geometrical errors:

Create morphing boxes around all the Dog Houses and Ribs as shown :

Translate the geometry in the y-direction to increase the height :

The final geometry after increasing the height of Dog houses and ribs is as shown :

Learning Outcomes :

Applications of morphing and its types.

Basic techniques to morph a model.

Result :

The two given models have been successfully morphed.
