Week - 8 - Morphing

AIM :

To pratice morphing techniques on the given sheet metal component in two different models.

MODEL-1 :

PROCEDURE:

Before working on morphing the component we need to clean-up the geometry by using Topo.

To start the morphing first of all switch to morphing deck, then select the new and select as shown below. The grids will be formed for morphing.

Now by using move command and selecting the nodes of the grid the model can be resized.

By using using Morphing techniques at various places were required the resizing is been obtained.

Model - 2:

PROCEDURE :

The requirement in this case is to increase the height of the dog house and the ribs .

As we did in the previous component Boxes>New>Ortho,Box Morphing>Move.

The Morphing grids have we been generated near the doghouses and ribs were the height should be increased.

By using the move command the height of the dog house and ribs are increaed.

APPLICATONS OF MORPHING

  1. The morphing feature is basicially as its name says, ans algorithm that lets the user rapidly morph exisiting CAD or FE models to match new geometry and /or to new proportions. They are usually carried out to fit target design features such as styling lines sections, proportions etc. percisely.
  2. To improve aerodynamic efficiency in aviation industry.
  3. There is specialized morphing which includes morphing components of a system as changing a fillet radius,a section, pattern replication, etc.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

  • Learned the concept of morphing and morph tools avaliable in the morph deck.
  • Learned about the applications of morphing.

RESULT:

Both the given models were morphed as per requirements - the first model was morphed as per the week 8 video on morphing and the second model ribs and dog houses were morphed as per specified.
