Week 8 - Challenge 6 - Core & Cavity Design

SUMMARY

In this report, we will see the core and cavity of an object created with the help of various commands and class A surface. Here we see the step-by-step procedure I have undergone throughout my design process and how the tree structure flows clearly.

WORKFLOW

The first step is the creation of a core block, with respect to the switch bezel. The tooling axis determines the core and cavity movement in an injection molding machine. The core block of the injection molding machine should be in the direction of the tooling axis. A core is the convex part of the mold which is separated by parting lines and parting surfaces.

The second step is the creation of cavity. The cavity is the concave part of the mold. The core and the cavity is aligned properly along the direction of the tooling axis.

Draft analysis is done to determine the correct tooling axis. Tooling axis determines the perfect shape of the injection molded component.
