Week 8 - Challenge 5 - Door Trim Lower

Aim: To create Door trim lower plastic component through given class A surface

Objectives:

  • Create Tooling axis considering a required draft angle of a component
  • Performing a draft analysis on given class A surface and final component
  • Create class B and class C surfaces

Creation of tooling axis:

Check visually which is the possible Tooling axis. Introduce a point by creating center of gravity of class A surface. Now Create line on that point with respect to X axis this line considers it as a Tooling axis.

Draft analysis of Class A surface:

Using feature draft analysis tool check the feasibility of the Class A surface

Creation of class B surface:

Take offset of class A surface of 2.5mm and hide class A surface now for offset part we get some gaps at fillets while offsetting it so we need to close that gaps. Now, take multiple extract wherever the gaps are visible then take boundary and create a curves extrapolate them and trim out the unnecessary part add edge fillet after trimming the part doing it individually. Follow same procedure to fill every gaps. After filling extrapolate the surface for 4mm.

Creation of class C surface:

Take the class A surface create a boundary curve and hide a surface A sweep that curve for at an angle of 90 degree with respect to surface with some extra length. Unhide Class A surface join both sweep surface and Class A surface trim unnecessary part.

Create closed component using Close surface tool in Part design

Draft analysis of a final component

Check the feasibility of final component using feature draft analysis tool.
