Challenge

Week 8 - Challenge 4 - Bumper

Create the Bumper Plastic component through the given Class-A surface. To begin with, the tooling axis for the given Class-A Surface should be created meeting the requirements of the draft angle and at the end perform the Draft analysis on the model.

Take the Thickness of the component to be 3 mm

AIM

To be able to create solid from the given Class-A surface, by considering tooling axis and draft analysis.

Class-A surface given:

TOOLING AXIS

Class A and axis systems are created at the center point of the model.

A tooling axis is created to see whether the maximum draft angle is passing or not.

tooling axis is created with the help of intersection

Drawn bisecting lines from the previous lines

Tree Structure shows how the tooling axis is created

Draft analysis for Class A is shown:

the Draft angle is considered 3 degrees, except for the surfaces all the area is green which means the surface is ok to create the closed body.

FOR CLASS-B SURFACES
We have divided the entire model into the base, side walls, inside side walls, and outer flange and worked on them one by one

Everywhere we follow the same procedure i.e. extract, un-trim, extrapolate, trim and offset.
First base, then side walls. To avoid confusion, we trimmed both together and made them one. Also, the fillet was given.

show the class b image attached in this for more clarity

class b is shown with the tooling axis

FOR CLASS-C SURFACES
In this model, unlike the earlier models, we have used a parallel tooling axis. Hence we cannot use the ‘with draft direction’ option under
sweep.
The C surfaces will mostly be created as shown below.

Class c surface is created in two different parts

inner class c surface

CLASS C OUTER SURFACE

FOR FINAL MODEL
Join class-A and class-C surfaces together.

CLASS A, B, AND C ARE SHOWN BELOW THAY JOIN TO GATHER

IN THIS IMAGE WE CAN SEE CLEARLY A, B, AND C SURFACE IS JOINED

Tree Structure

In a tree structure, geometrical set have been properly named to easy access
