Challenge

Week 8 - Challenge 3 - Coin Holder Design

COIN HOLDER-REPORT

INPUT:

Take the Thickness of the component to be 2.5 mm

REQUIREMENT NEEDED

Create the Coin Holder Plastic component through the given Class-A surface

STEPS FOLLOWED TO CREATE THE COMPONENT

1.Created tooling Axis

Step 1: Created Dummy Tooling axis line.

Step 2: With reference to Dummy tooling axis line, created bisecting line which bisects side 2 draft angle walls.

And also checked in opposite direction

Step 3: Intersected Both direction centerline to get Tooling axis line

FINAL TOOLING LINE

2.Using Draft Analysis. checked the draft along the created tooling axis line.

For plastic component 3 degree would be generally used as draft angle and checked at 3 degree. Results below

All views of Draft analysis for Surface

From the result is observed that, The tooling line will clear at 3 degree draft

At initial stage we can continue with this observation.

3.Created Class B surface by considering the 2.5 thickness given with proper geometric sets

CLASS B SURFACE

4.Created Class C surface by considering the 3 degree draft angle calculated using draft analysis

CLASS C SURFACE

5.Combined CLASS A, CLASS B, CLASS C surface and trimmed the extra edges

FINAL SURFACE MODEL

6.Made it solid part

FINAL PART MODEL

7.Draft analysis has performed to verify the initial results at 3 degree

Result for 3 degree for Solid part

All views of Draft analysis for solidpart

Result

At Tooling direction it is Green colour so tooling will clear at within 3 degree for coin Holder.

Geometrical sets-Construction

Final design for Coin holder up-to Draft Analysis and Solid part Creation.
