Week 8 - Challenge 3 - Coin Holder Design
COIN HOLDER DESIGN
Aim:
To create the coin holder plastic component from the given Class A surface.
Software Used:
Catia V5
Given Class A:

Creation Of Tooling Axis:
To continue the designing process we need to create the tooling axis first for the surface.
For that first extract the base suface and create a point and an axis system in on that point. Then Intersect the model with the plane perpendicular or to the axis system.

Again intersect the model with another plane and extend the lines perpendicular to it.Create a bisecting line by bisecting option in Line definition.

Here the yellow dotted Line is the tooling axis.
Draft Analysis Of Class A:
With reference to the tooling axis just created draft analysis is done on the class A surface.

Creation Of Class B:
Class B is created separately by taking extract from the class A by classifying it into side walls, base and top walls.
Side walls:
By using Extract,Untrimming, extrapolating and trimming the side walls are created and offsetted and also the rquired fillets are given.

Base:

Top Walls:
By extracting the top walls of class A and extrapolating the top walls are obtained and it is offsetted and the trims are performed.

Outer Flanges:

Creation Of Class C:
By taking the boundary of class A and by giving the swept the class C is created.

Then the class A is C is joined and to do Trim class B is little extrapolated and trimmed and we got the final body.

Final Solid:
Using Closesurface The final solid is created.

Draft analysis On the Final Solid
Taking tooling axis as reference draft analysis is carried out:

Conclusion
The Coin Holder Plastic component is designed from given Class-A surface and performed Draft Analysis on the final plastic component.
