Challenge

Week 8 - Challenge 3 - Coin Holder Design

COIN HOLDER

Tooloing Axis creation:

  • In this coin holder challenge, I have not used the bisecting method to create the tooling axis.
  • Firstly analyze the given component in which direction tooling axis will be suitable.
  • Then extract the base surface from the given class A surface.
  • Then create a point in the centre of the extracted surface using 'on the surface' option.
  • Next create a line normal to the extracted surface that passing through the created point and consider the line as Tooling axis.

Draft Analysis:

  • Draft analysis is done on the class A surface and the final surface component.
  • Normally the draft angle for plastic surfaces ranges from 1/2 to 3 degrees.
  • I have given the maximum positive draft angle for plastic surface is 3 degree.
  • The results of the draft analysis on class A and the final components are as below.
