Week 8 - Challenge 2 - Switch Bezel Design

Report :

Tooling axis creation :

  • in this cat part, we have to create the normal to the surface line from the plane suface.
  • extract the base.
  • create a point on the surface.
  • extend the lines on both sides.
  • to create lines for the lines on the surface.
  • create the line using normal to surface and get the tooling axis.

Draft analysis :

  1. with the help of the tooling, the axis creates the draft analysis.
  2. check whether the mode is in the material mode.
  3. using the compass fix and lock in the suitable direction.
  4. give the draft angle for 3 deg.
  5. Click on the part and make sure that the colour code becomes green.

class A surface

closed surface

In this, I had taken closed surface taken 1 deg. and negative value blue is slowing below.

CLASS A SURFACE

In automotive design, a class A surface is any of a set of freeform surfaces of high efficiency and quality. Class A surfacing is done using computer-aided industrial design applications.

This is the given part that has some errors in the boundary. And I joined it at a merging distance of 0.003mm.

CLASS B SURFACE

To the value of the thickness of the component to get B Surface. It is a surface it gives thickness from Class A Surface, all the engineering features like screw bars, ribs and other supporting features could be formed on the B Surface. In another team, Class B Surface known as Engineering Surface.

CLASS C SURFACE

The purpose of Class C surface is to connect Class A surfaces & Class B surfaces. It gives the thickness of the model.

In this, had a problem that some of the boundaries in the part, in that case, changed the

merging distance of 0.006mm. Then the class C surface formed.

CLOSED SURFACE

Go to the part workbench and select close surface then the final part formed.

Tree Structure

CONCLUSION

At the end of this model, we can get the complete profile of the Switch Bezel Design, also the thickness of the component.
