Week 8 - Challenge 2 - Base Bracket Design
Aim :
Create the Base Bracket Plastic component through the given Class-A surface. To begin with, the tooling axis for the given Class-A Surface should be created meeting the requirements of the draft angle and at the end perform the Draft analysis on the model.
Step1 : Tooling Axis
Tooling axis is drawn on the upper surface hole. Where the axis system and point are created. Basically tooling axis is crated by bisecting the lines drawn on the drafted surface. This tooling axis is generally the bisecting line of both the x axis tooling axis and y axis tooling axis. But in this part we can not take drafted surfaces into account .

Step2: Draft Analysis
Draft analysis is done in order to check the angle for the faces. If the draft angle is less than 3 degree it will show error and creating B side component.

Step 3 : Class A Surface :
I have extracted class A surface from the input and used that surface to create a new part body.

Step 4 : Class B Surface
Sides are extracted, extrapolated and trimmed and finally offseted to create a new surface named as Class B Surface. Generally class B surface is the bottom face of the part which is usually drafted at a degree of 3 of industry standards.

Step 4 : Class C Surface
The outer boundaries of the class A surface is extracted and is smoothened using smooth curve tool. This smooth curve function will creat a continuous smooth curve without inter section.

Step 5 : Class A and Class C joining.
Now a new goeometrical set is created for final operations where Class A and Class C surfaces are defined and trimed. This will join thesurfaces into a single one. In other case like creating a new class A surfacae from the input class A surface it requirees trimming, thus it will join the surfaces.

Step 6 : Part forming
In this step the work bench is changed to Part workbench , where clossed surface option or tool is used to finish the surface model into part body.

Step 7 : Draft Analysis
Draft analysis for the part body is performed. This is to check whether the part is has the required draft angle according to the industrial standard of 3 or more degrees.

Publication :
The surface are published for easy access using Tools --> Publications.
