Challenge

Week 8 - Challenge 1 - Draft Analysis on a Fan Cover

AIM

Create the tooling axis for the Fan cover model meeting the requirements of the draft angle and perform the Draft analysis on the model.

APPROACH FOR DRAFT ANALYSIS

Ensure that the given class A model is properly joined and has no discontuinity on it by using boundary command and join command.

BOUNDARY COMMAND

JOIN COMMAND

Check the model manually or visually to see which direction is most suitable for tooling axis.

1.View the model in isometric view of the surface and can clearly see the hole on top surface.

X AXIS VIEW

Y AXIS VIEW

Z AXIS VIEW

But from the Z direction hole can be viewed so we can choose this as a tooling axis. This is only the dummy axis.

BISECTING METHOD

1 Make an axis system

2 Intersect ZX plane with class A surface

3 we will get the line

4 Now we have to see which surface is difficult to be tooled or creating the problem and make a line along that surface using the point to point option.

5 After creating two lines, now we will bisect the lines and choose the proper direction, here vertical direction

6 This will be the tooling axis for x-direction.

7 Similarly we intersect the YZ plane with class A surface and repeat the same procedure again.

Now we have two axis, x-axis and y-axis .we will bisect this two-axis to get our final tooling axis.

DRAFT ANALYSIS

1.Go to insert >analysis>feature draft analysis.

2 Click on the compass icon and align it with the tooling axis and click on the surface,we will get our result.
