Week 8 - BlockMesh Drill down challenge
Theory:
A backward-facing step is needed to be generated using OpenFoam which is sloved using icoFoam solver which is a transient solver for incompressible, laminar flow of Newtonian fluid.
Here in this task cavity case from icoFoam solver which is part of incompressible tutorials is copied to run folder and blockMeshDict file is edited to develop to a required shape in OpenFoam
After editing the blockmeshdict file blockmesh cammand is runed ,to find out any error in the meshing checkmesh is runed which helps us to modify the blockMeshDict file
Initial conditions pressure(p) and velocity(u) is edited as per the requirement of the problem, the number time steps and steps is edited in the controldict file
Once obtaining the required geometry icoFoam solver is runned after that to view the simulation paraFoam is runed which opens ParaView simulation software where the geomety is viewed with final results
Different mesh grading factor is used during the process

Results
1 For mesh grading factor of 0.2
velocity pattern along the lenght of the domain

velocity contour from the distance of 0.085 from the inlet

2: For meshing grading factor of 0.5
velocity pattern along the lenght of the domain

velocity contour from the distance of 0.085 from the inlet

2: For meshing grading factor of 0.8
velocity pattern along the lenght of the domain

velocity contour from the distance of 0.085 from the inlet

Conlusion
All the velocity graphs obtained from the different meshing grading factors are similar with a neglible varitions. As the meshing size is lower i.e for finner mesh we can obtain the accurate output
