Week 7- Base Unit Design Challenges 2
| Base Unit Design |
#Objective: To Design a base unit to place all the fixtures required to hold all the car panels, including Blue and Orange panels in the Fixture Assembly.
#Introduction: Base unit is the unit where all the other units are mounted along with necessary tools like the trunking cable path, pneumatic valve box, etc.

Various components in a Base Unit are:
(a)Floor Plate: A plate set in or forming part of a floor and sometimes provided with T slots to which heavy work and portable machine tools can be bolted to facilitate machining and erection.
(b)Weld Bars: these are thesteel plates along the sides of the base plate of a pedestial.
(c)Pneumatic Valve box: A pneumatic valve is a device that is used to control or modulate the flow of air (or another inert gas) in a pneumatic system. They do so by controlling the air or gas at the source, regulating its passage as needed into tubing, pipes, or devices in an automated pneumatic system.
(d)Eye Bolt: Eye bolts can be used as a connection point for rigging, anchoring, pulling, pushing, or hoisting applications.

(e)Measuring Hole Cover: To measure the clear opening size for your cover you need to take the measurements from the inside walls of the manhole from one side to the other.
(f)Trunking Channel: The cable trunking system will protect cables from dust or water ingress. Cable trunking is an enclosure usually with a rectangular cross section, and with one removable or hinged side, that is used to protect cables and provide space for other electrical equipment.

(g)Pedestial:The base or support on which a statue, obelisk, or column is mounted.
(h)Base Plate: A slab base plate is provided when the column is to stand on an independent concrete foundation.
