Week 6 Fuel cell powered vehicle model

In this feul cell powered electric vehicle model we have taken UDDS data as reference input for flow rate selector using signal builder block. According to the speed and the fuel cell stack current the flow rate of H2 is regulated and the required voltage is obtained. Due to inherent characteristic of fuel cell as current increases voltage decreases.

The output voltage of fuel cell is boosted through a DC/DC converter whose output is then connected to the RL circuit(equilvalent circuit of a motor)

After running the simulation for 100sec below is the plot for fuel flow rate(lpm), utilization% of O2 and H2, fuel and air consumption and stack efficiency

At 20sec when the vehicle is accelerated the fuel rate is increased to fulfill the demand, the H2 utilization is reduced from 99.56 to 75%, stack consumption for air and fuel is also reduced.

Stack efficiency is reduced to 49% from 55%.

In this above plot the first two plots are of voltage and current of the fuel cell and the last two plot are of voltage and current at the output of dc/dc converter.

As the fuel flow rate is increased the voltage of fuel cell got increased and due to inherent characteristic of fuel cell its current got decreased.

The dc/dc converter has boosted the voltage from 45V to 100V and is able to keep voltage and current constant through out the drive cycle period.

We can see very little spike in voltage and current when the vehicle is accelerated or when the vehcile is brought to zero speed.
