Week 6 - Creating connection for Rear door
Aim:
To perform the connections of the rear door of the car with different connection techniques.
PROCEDURE:-
- Extract the file (Rear door) to ANSA.

- Set seperate PID's for different spot welding parts.

FOR HOLES : Use Bolt type Connections.
- For this type of connection, give a COG points to the holes that need to be connected.
- Convert the COG point to a bolt.
- Use the connection manager and connect the parts by selecting BOLT FEATURE.
- Create ZONE CUT for bolt holes with the washer element around the hole which is not connected to many parts.
- TYPE OF CONNECTION used - RBE2 connections.
- NASTRAN MODULE>ELEMENTS>RBE2>MANY NODES can be used to create a cluster element for bolt holes when there are no different properties defined to parts.

FOR DOOR HINGE CONNECTION :
- Create RBE2 cluster elements in order to make the movement of rear door towards one direction.
- Delete the sixth degree of freedom under NASTRAN>ELEMENT>INFO. (Select only 1 2 3 4 5 ).

For connections involved in SPOT WELDING :
- Select the nodes and convert it into spot weld point.
- RBE3-HEXA-RBE3 is the representation for spot welding

HANDLE CONNECTION for door:
Handle connections are made using RBE2 elements along with CONMi>CONM2>NODES in order to give mass representation of the handle in tonnes.

CONNECTION FOR WINDOWS :
- Create curve around the perimeter of the window.
- Transform them into spot lines.
- Select the lines after opening CONNECTIONS MANAGER RBE3-CBUSH-RBE3 is used to represent Window Connections because windows are connected with soft bush to absorb shocks and an off-set is provided at the bottom part of the window for weather beeding.
- Assign parts for connections of CBUSH elements.
- Repeat this procedure for fixed window.
- Change the co-ordinate to 0 in CBush Properties so it gets globally aligned towards one direction.

FINAL PART :

CONCLUSION:
- Rigid body element are connected firmly.
- Spot welding connections are made for permanent fixing.
- CBUSH element are realized.
- Mass of Handle is assigned in terms of tonnage.
- Degree of freedom assigned for hinges.
