Electronic Cooling Simulations using ANSYS ICEPAK

Setting up a model (Electronic enclosure)

An electronic steady state simulation must be performed using the mesh generated in a past challenge.

Process

The first step is to define all ICEPAK elements to mesh and simulation using the physics on condition, obtaining all components expanded as the following images indicates:

By performing an optimized geometry selection and using only the ideal and affected geometries, a simplified geometry assembly is obtained.

The processing, is generated by 150 iterations, obtaining a converging variables’ conditions by the mass momentum and energy equations.

Several parts, being an interest for the simulation are analyzed to define the end of a convergent simulation, obtaining and determining the cause-effect of the simulation conditions, fan speed and organization of the components.

For the post processing the temperature contours on the surface and on a plane are obtained seeing the waves generated of heat throughout the components by the conduction and convection applied, neglecting radiation.

Speed and the direction as its way out is important and one of the primary conditions of using CFD analysis, the possibility of seeing a possibility from the real experiment or model and defining decisions from it as its effectiveness.

Conclusion

A CHT-CFD thermal electronic steady state simulation was performed, generating a postprocessing and obtaining the analyzing from the postprocessing results.
