Week- 5 - Solid meshing
AIM : The objective is to clean up the given CAD model ( Rear View Mirror ) from all existing topological errors followed by SHELL MESH using TRIA and ORTHO TRIA elements and VOLUME MESH for the same using ANSA.
INPUT : The input given for this challenge is an important component for an Automobile Interior, i.e A Rear View MIrror.
The whole component was having 4 subcomponents in total having different PIDs.

WORKING PROCEDURE
- The model was imported to ANSA followed by a thorough check for geometry using CHECKS MANAGER > GEOMETRY.
- The outcome was
-

- After cleaning up all the errs,

- The necessary changes were made for ease of shell meshing , the Quality Parameters and MESH PARAMETERS were fed as instructed.
- shell mesh : 1. Min length :0.5
2.Max length :2.0
- solid Mesh : 1. Tet Collapse :0.2
- Mesh parametes : Average length :1
- The flat surfaces were meshed using TRIA elements, and the curved ones were with ORTHO TRIA using MESH GENERATION > SPOT MESH.
- All the subcomponents were shell meshed individually.

- All the OFF ELEMENTS were taken care using GRIDS>MOVE and by various other tools like reconstruction and smooth.
- After getting a proper shell for the component, the moden is then checked for any geometrical errors, found good to go and then forwarded to VOLUME MESH DECK\
- The volume has to be a closed volume for tetra mesh to happen.
- Thenafter, the output is assigned as a volume using VOLUMES > DEFINE > MANUAL. With a box selection fpr each of the subcomponent.
- After assigning the closed volumes as a solid, it could be seen in VOLUMES > LIST.
- The volumes are then meshed one by one using TETRA RAPID algorithm.
- For the TET COLLAPSE 0.2, some of the elements found as OFFs, taken care individually using IMPROVE > FIX QUALITY and IMPROVE > MOVE.
- On the surface of the meshed volume, some KINKS AND DIPS were seen, it was aligned to the surface using IMPROVE > ALIGN.
AFTER ALIGNING THE POINTS
- After all the rectifications/modifications the final output came out is shown as follows and also been attatched to this report.
I CAME TO KNOW ABOUT UNSTRUCTURED SOLID MESHING AND TO IMPLY IT IN A SOLID BODY WHOSE VOLUME IS CLOSED, LEARNT TO EXECUTE THE ALGORITHM OF SOLID TETRA MESHING THROUGH THIS CHALLENGE, ALSO TO TAKE CARE OF THE STEPS PRE MESHING AND HANDLING THE ERRORS OCCURING POST USING VARIOUS METHODS.
CONCLUSION : The given Rear Vew Mirror as a CAD had been sucessfully cleaned up geometrically with all necessary changes, which is then shell meshed under given quality criteria followed by volume meshing without any quality failure and surface errors.
