Week- 5 - Solid meshing

Aim -The aim of this challengeis to check the geometrical errors of the 3D model and mesh the given the compoment with teh given quality certeria using tetra elements.

Procedure-

1.CAd clean Up- As shown in the figure tha cad model of the rear view mirror is shown where the surafce are not attached to its adjacent sides and single cons can be visible usint the Topo command from the face are stiched together removing all single cons. The cad model had some triple cons,needle face which ver fixed by using the autofix option.

2.Mesh generation.

Following steps are followed to generate the solid mesh using the tetra elemnts after cad clean up processs,

a. The qulity certeria was assigned and average length was defined as given below

b.The cad model was refined usin the length option from deck with perimeter of length of 1mm.

c .Curves suraces were meshed using the ortho tria elemnts to capture the curved surfaces more percisely and plane surface were captured with tria elemnts which can be seen in below image.

d.All tyhe elemnts which are faling for minimum length and maximum length were being solved by using the reconstruct option fig below no off elemts.

e.NewPId were defined for the four diffrent parts of the model These new pid were meshed using the Tetra Rapid which does volume meshong so faster without following the mesh pattern used in the surface.

f.To check the volume mesh was generated we use the bound option wich shoes volume mesh as in red colour also volume has no error for the Tet collapse.

Conclusion-

The main part of solid meshing is to combine both the ortho tria and Tria elemnts as per feature of CAD model and to generate a better mesh flow to capture the cad model percisely .The off elemts in the surface shell were also taken care of which falied for maximum and minimum lenhth before going for the volume mesh.

It was also noticed that volume mesh camt be generated that the volume mesh cant be generated if the geometry isopen so the geometry had to be closed.Another important to notice the kicks and the raise after meshing .
