Week- 5 - Solid meshing
AIM :
To check for the geometrical errors and mesh the surfaces with the given 2D element Quality criterias for the given Rear view mirror component. In addition, to use tetra elements to mesh the volumes defined in the model and check for the below quality after volume meshing.
PROCEDURE :
- In the beginning importing of the given component in the ANSA window is done and the component is checked for the geometrical errors.
- The geometrical errors that are found in the geometry error panel are then solved by the suitable method. The triple cons and the needle faces are fixed by deleting the unnecessary faces and topo option is used for fixing the cons properly together.
- Next to that the given surface is meshed with 2D orthotria and tria elements using the given quality criteria.
- The mesh flow is checked and fixed using reconstruct & smooth option in the mesh panel. Now the 2D mesh is performed.
- Now the parts that are available in the rear view mirror component are isolated as separate Volume in the Solid Property ID.
- As the volumes are created, now the volumes are meshed using the the Tetra Rapid and Tetra FEM in the Volume mesh panel. After volume meshing the mesh is checked for tetcollapse and also for any kinks and raised surfaces in the meshed volume.
- If any of the above errors are present they are fixed by moving the inner side node of any failing element in the volume. Thus the fixing of the elements does not disturbs or distorts the mesh flow.
- Thus the component is completely volume meshed using the tetrahedral 3D mesh.

CONCLUSION :
Therefore the given rear view mirror model is 2D meshed with the orthotria and tria elements and volume meshed under the given quality criterias successfully.
