Week - 5 - Modelling Spotwelds
AIM: To find out the spotweld simulation of beam and solid element using different deliverables.
EXPLANATION:
- Given data for simulation of model used is steel material.
- Density of material is 7.850kg/m3.
- velocity of impact
- For beam element :10m/sec
- For solid element : 10m/sec
- Thickness of beam: 3mm
- Termination time used is : 3 sec
- In this model contact used for both beam and solid element is two types :
- Automatic single surface
- Tied shell edge to surface

MAXIMUM STRESS OF BEAM ELEMENT

MAXIMUM STRESS OF SOLID ELEMENT

By compairing the above both maximum stress generated is (9.941e+01) for beam element, and (1.952e+01) for solid element.
AXIAL FORCE OF BEAM ELEMENT

AXIAL FORCE OF SOLID ELEMENT

By compairing the above both axial force maximum force generated at point is 441 in beam element.
SHEAR FORCE OF BEAM ELEMENT

SHEAR FORCE OF SOLID ELEMENT

By compairing the above both shear force maximum shear force generated at point is 113 in beam element.
CONCLUSION Hence from the above comparision less stress will be generated in the solid element, So finally in my point of veiw solid element of spotweld is better. And in this model there is no strain is generated (effective plastic strain), actually strain has to be generated but im not understanding why it is not generating even though after collision it almost damaging but no strain is generating. And various deliverables are shown in above.
