Week - 3 Drop test Challenge

  • AIM

To find out the simulation of bending moment and stress on a solid plate with simplified cellphone using initial velocity card in a given model.

  • EXPLANATION
  • In this model first we need to define the materials for each part.
  • cellphone as aluminium
  • shell plate as aluminium
  • solid plate as steel
DENSITY YOUNGS MODULUS POISONS RATIO YIELD STRENGTH E-TAN
ALUMINIUM ALLOY 2.600e-04 2.800e+06 0.23
STEEL 7.850e-04 2.000e+06 0.3
ALUMINIUM 3.400e-04 2.600e+06 0.3 170 2.0
  • In this model there are three parts and we need to create part ID and title. For each part we need to give section ID and material ID.
  • In section cards we need to take 2 solids and 1 shell.
  • In boundary I had taken spc set here we need to constrained the nodes of solid plate, So that the part will does not move anywhere.
  • In this model i considered mobile as slave and shell plate as master.
  • In this model i considered solid plate and shell plate as one part and mobile as another part in set part.
  • In this model contact card used is automatic surface to surface.
  • In this model initial velocity card is used.
  • In database card ASCII output used is GLSTAT, MATSUM.
  • In this model control card used is TERMINATION, AND ENERGY.
  • PLOTS AND COUNTORS
  • Global Internal energy
  • The above graph shows the internal energy with respect to time. At time 1sec the internal energy is zero, at time 2sec the energy slightly increased to 0.2, at time 2 to 3 sec there is a sudden increase in internal energy to 1.2 jouls.
  • ASCII OUTPUT
  • GLSTAT
  • MATSUM

The above graph shows the internal energy with respect to time. At time 1sec the internal energy is zero, At time 1 to 2sec there is a sudden increase in internal energy to 8.1 jouls, At time 2 to 4sec internal energy is slightly increased to 8.2.

  • VELOCITY AT -10 MM/S
  • VON MISES STRESS
  • VELOCITY AT -15 MM/S
  • VON MISES STRESS
  • ASCII OUTPUT
  • MATSUM
  • The above graph shows the internal energy with respect to time. At time 1sec internal energy is zero, At time 1 to 2sec there is a sudden increase in internal energy to 10.1 jouls, At time 2 to 3sec there is a gradually decrease in energy to 8.4 jouls.
VON MISES STRESS MAXIMUM VON MISES STRESS MINIMUM VON MISES STRESS SAFE
VELOCITY AT -10 1.697e+02 1.697e+01 1.188e+02
VELOCITY AT -15 1.525e+02 1.525e+01 1.068e+02
  • CONCLUSION

In a given model at velocity of 10 and 15 m/s the stress values given in the above table and the safe stress values are represent for the given model and conditions only.
