Week - 5 - Modelling Spotwelds
Aim:
To model spotweld and compare with beam an solid spot weld.
Procedure:
The first very step is to import the k dot file into the work space and then add the basic keywors.
The first key word is "MAT" followed by "SECTION" then assign the material and section id for the "PART".
Then make the node set for the "Boundary condtion and assign the velocity for the part and one side to be a fixed/rigd with the key word "SPC"
After assigning all the key word run the program and check for the results.
Comparing the solid weld with the beam spot weld, the beam have lesser elongation compared to solid.
The stress is maximum in the solid spot weld compared to beam spot weld
Attaching the plots and from that it is clearly visible that for better rigidness spot beam weld is prefarable than spot solid weld.
Conclusion:
Learn to model the welds and comparsion for the stress, strain etc...
