Week 5 Challenge : Surface wrap on Automotive Assembly

AIM- To complete Geometry cleanup for all 3 models & Perform surface wraping for length 3mm after merging all parts.

Algorithm or tools

1. Delete- To delete all unwanted surfaces .

2. New - To create new surfaces .

3. Paste - To paste two single cons into double con.

4. Compress - To delete unwanted PID's.

5. Merge - To assemble all 3 model into 1.

STEPS & MODEL

1. Geometry cleanup for all models ( deleting irrelevant surfaces).

(a) ENGINE

We clean up by deleting unwanted surfaces like donuts shaped and resolve errors only at surface.

(b) TRANSMISSION

We find less errors and rectify them all.

(c) GEARBOX

We rectify all errors in This geometry too

2. Next step is to merge all components & Fill all hole part for proper result in wrapping.

We use Merge tool and select previous models and body will be merged.

After merging we fill all holes as shown below.

3. We Perform SURFACE WRAPPING.

We go under elements in Surface mesh and use Wrap or under octee tool wrap

The tool box will appear as shown below

We click at parameters as shown above and tool box like below will appear and we name the parameter type and insert the target length in this case its 3mm.

After giving target length we select PID's left after deleting irrelevant one's after using Compress tool .
all PID's will appear at left in toolbox as shown below .

Select all and click green arrow below and final click ok.

After all done just click Run and surface wrapping will be completed.

Use of Surface wrapping in comparission to Surface meshing is that it creates one volume inside body where as susrface mesh will create volume for all enclosed parts inside the surface.

As we can see the body is hollow inside means it has just one volume .

Conclusions

1. Geometry cleanup was more basic as comparable to previous challenge .

2. We used merge command which shows usable as assembly for models.

3. Other way for analysing is surface wrapping which creates just one inside volume .
