Week 5 Challenge : Surface wrap on Automotive Assembly
AIM:
For the given models, check for the geometrical errors and delete surfaces which are unwanted for Surface wrap as shown in the videos. After clearing geometry, Merge all 3 models and perform surface wrap.
PROCEDURE:
ENGINE:
the engine model is downloaded from the link which is given on the challenge. the model is opened in the ansa software.
the required surface is hiden by using not option, now the unwanted surface is deleted by using delete option which is in ring shape.
the outer surface of the engine model is properly topo clean uped by the help of several option ( delete, topo, new - faces - creation...) present in ansa.
Total engine model is converted into single volume.
GEAR BOX:
The overlaped surface of the gear box is deleted by using delete option. Triple con, which is present inside the surface of the gear box is deleted.
The gear box is examined properly.
TRANSMISSION BOX:
The unwanted surface which is present in the transmission box is deleted by using delete option.
The surface is hide by using not option and delete the inside surface, it results single con is generated.
The new surface created by using new - cons in order to remove the single con.
All the 3 models are examined properly, now doing surface wrap.
SURFACE WRAP:
Now all the 3 models are merged in single page by using (file - merge - select the file to merge) merge option.
In the mesh deck - elements - wrap- constant length - the feature is opened.
now the PIDs are compressed by using the compresser option which is present in the property deck.
Now the PID region is compressed than the previously presented. Again go tho the Wrap option and give it runed and after 15 mins the surface wrap is compeleted which is to do so.
The total combination of Engine, Gear Box, Transmission are properly surface wraped.
RESULT AND CONCLUSION:
For the given Engine, Gear Box, Transmission properly geometrical errors are checked and deleted. surfaces which are unwanted for Surface wrap are also deleted after the topo clean up and the surface wrap is carried out.
