Week 5 Challenge
Question 1:
Statement: Battery is better option to suply power for car in aggressive driving and braking condition.
Opinion: Battery is not a better option to the given scenario.
The difference between the ultracapacitor and the battery are as follows:
| Ultracapacitor | Batteries |
| store energy in an electric field and are known as fast energy storage device | They have the chemical reaction to be done. These are slow energy storage devices |
| High Power density | High energy density |
| 1000000 cycle lifetime | 2000-3000 cyce life time |
| almost instant charge and discharge | slow charge and discharge |
As here, the ultracapacitor hava a high power density they can produce the very high currnts within a short period which can be helpful for the braking of the vehicle at a fast rate. At the time of acceleraing both battery and ultracapacitor can be used.
Ultracapacitors are more efficient than batteries, especially under full load conditions, largely due to lower heat generation mechanisms that lead to power loss. They can achieve round-trip efficiency of more than 98%, while lithium-ion batteries' efficiencies are less than 90%.From this it is better to use the ultracapacitor at fast braking conditions than battery.
Question 2:
The plot between the energy density vs cell voltage:

From the above graph the energy density and voltage characteristics of the batteries are observed. There is more energy density and more voltage for Li ion battery and lead acid has less energy density comared to all.
Question 3:
Plot the graph between power density vs cell voltage:

In the above the ultracapacitor has more power density compared to others.
Question 4:
The above statement is false
