Week 5 Bending of iPhone
Objective:
In this analysis study, we going to simulate bending of iPhone using hand fingers and we going to calculate fatigue life and directional deformation.

- Analysis System: Static Structural
- Material Properties:
- Display – Glass

- Frame – Aluminium Alloy NL

- Inside – Polyethylene

3.Mesh:

4. Contacts:
- Bonded Contact between display and frame

- Frictionless contact is given at all contact region

5. Joints
- Fixed Joint on upper fingers

- Translational Joint to Pushing Fingers

6. Analysis Setting
No of Steps: 8
Large Deformation: ON
7. Fixed Support is given as per below image on Inside to give stability to whole model while bending operation.

8. X and Z directional deformation is locked for frame.

9. Joint Load
- Translational Displacement load is given in 8 steps as 2,4,6,8,6,4,2,0.

- it is observed that maximum equivalent stress of Aluminium Alloy Frame is in Case 1 around 629.38 Mpa.
- As well maximum Y directional deformation is also observed in Case 1 around 7.2 mm.
- Factor of safety is more in case 2 as compare to case 1.
