Week 5 Battery characteristics using drive cycle

The objective of this question is to model the generic battery model and simulate the charge discharge characterstics for a specific drice cycle.

The drive cycle used in the simulation is UDDS Urban dynamometer driving schedule. thos driving cycle represents the series of data points representing the speed of vehicle versus time. it is in the form of current required to propell the vehicle.

The model used for simulation is as shown in figure

The blocks used in the simulation are generic battery model

1. Signal builder: This block allows to create a current signal which is used as input driving cycle. the current data is imported as a input for signal builder.

2.Controlled current sourse: It converts the simuling input data in the form of controlled current required by the battery.

3. Generic battery : the controlled current is given to the generic battery.

4. Bus selector

allows the output in the form of SOC, current and voltage.

5. scope displayes the out put SOC current and voltage as a function of time.

The results are as shown in figure

From the results it is observed that the SOC is decreasing up to 95% for input drive cycle and current changing dynamically from -4 to 8 and voltage is decreasing up to 7.8v.
