Week 5.1 - Compact Notation Derivation for a simple Mechanism

AIM: Aim of this study is to derive the reaction rate for the given reaction mechanism.

Introduction: In the Cantera, for solving a reaction mechanism, along with operating conditions such as pressure and temperature, the rate of a reaction is needed to be provided in order to get the solution. Hence, this study focuses on developing a reaction mechanism to get the reaction rate.

Mechanism:

Reactant matrix is given by,

The reactant matrix is given by,

V’ji = `|quad|`

The product matrix is given by,

V’’ji =

Vji = V’’ji – V’ji

Vji =

Hence, the rate of the first reaction is given by,

q_1 = Kf1 – Kr1

؞ q_1 = Kf1 – Kr1

Similarly,

Rate of the second reaction,

q_2 = Kf2 – Kr2

Rate of the third reaction,

q_3 = Kf3 – Kr3

Rate of the fourth reaction,

q_4 = Kf4 – Kr4
