Week 4- Rolling operation
OBJECTIVES:-
- To find out the equivalent stress and equivalent plastic strain for copper non linear work piece
- Also fnd out directional deformation in z axis
- To prove that the workpiece has displaced by 90 mm
PROCEDURE:-
- Open the ansys workbench R2
- select staticstructural analysis
- Select copper non linear alloy from non linear general material in Engineeing data
- improt the model
- In geometry section , rename part appropriatly
- Selelct for both wheel and choose material as structural steel and for the work piece choose the copper non linear alloy
- In contact section select all contact and flip its contact and target ,choose its scope properly
- choose contact type as frictional and input .2 for coefficient of friction

- choose augmented lagrange as formulation
- insert body to ground cylindrical joint twice and choose inner surface wheel as scope for each joint
- in mesh section insert sizing ,select work piece as its scope and input 1.5 mm as element size

- In analysis section input 14 for the number of step
- keep the large defflection ON
- insert displacement in analysis settings , select two sides of workpiece as its scope and input value for axis through tabular data (ensure woerkpiece has moved 90 mm )

- insert joint load twice and select type as rotation about z axis and input values in angle through tabular data
- rotate left wheel in clock wise direction and for the right side wheel rotate in anti clockwise direction

- In solution section insert equivalent stress , equivalent plastic strain and directional deformation twice (choose its axis y and z )
- run the solve
RESULT :-
COPPER NON LINEAR WORKPIECE ROLLING :-
DIRECTIONAL DEFORMATION IN Z AXIS :-

EQUIVALENT STRESS :-

EQIVALENT PLASTIC STRAIN:-

PROOF FOR WORKPIECE HAS MOVED 90 MM (DIRECTIONAL DEFORMATION IN Y AXIS ):-

TABULATION :-
| MATERIAL | DIRECTIONAL DEFORMATION IN Z AXIS (mm) | EQIVALENT PLASTIC STRAIN (mm/mm) | EQIVALENT STRESS (MPa) |
| COPPER NON LINEAR ALLOY | 6.2693 | 2.123 | 3836.6 |
CONCLUSION :-
- Proved that the workpiece has moved 90 mm
- maximum equivalent stress is 3836.6 MPa
- maximum equivalent strain is 2.123 mm/mm
- Deformation in z axis is 6.2693 mm
