Week 4:- Pin Unit Design Challenge
1. Design 2 Different types of Fixed Pin Unit with Different Pins, Riser, Blade, and Block.
-Fixed pin units

Normal pin:

Placement of shim 1

Shim 2

Diamond Pin:

Due to manufacturing errors there may be gaps for which shims are used for proper alignment of the parts.

2. Design 2 Different types of Retractable Pin Unit with Different Pins, Riser, Blade, Cylinder, and Block.
Retraction unit

SHims to be present at respective locations in between retraction unit & L block ,and L block & Blade.

at the 2nd work station shimming can be provided between retraction unit & retrainer unit

Definations:
Pin: Pins are used to arrest the degrees of freedom. It helps for locking the rotational movement of the panel. There are 2 types of pins round & diamond. We cann also use color pin where pi is used to support the panel.
Round pin in round hole arrest 4 axial movements where as round pin in capsule arrest 2 axial movements.
Pin Block: Also called as pin retrainer. The block holds the pin & restricts the rotational motion of pin. depending on use pin can either be std or manufactured one.
L block:The blate in shape like L is called L block or angular block. This block is used to provide shimming & can be used to connect the parts.
Shimming: Shimming is provided due to manufacturing errors.Shimming can be of 5mm,8mm,or 10mm. Shims are placed in car line position so that gap can be adjusted in require directions. Generally shimming is provided in any of the 2 directions.
Blade: The plate that connects riser to clamp cylinder is called blade.Blade can be of any shape but should be compact as possible.
Riser:The part that is mounted on base plate & holds the clamp or pin cylinder on it is called riser.
