Week-4 Challenge WOT Condition Part-2
Question:1
Aim: To find the difference between mapped and dynamic model of engine, motor and generator? How can we change model type?
Answer: There are two types of power train blockser they are
1) Static:- The static model is going to work faster and runs based on the data given in look up tables.
2)Dynamic:- It is going to represent the actual componets.
Mapped engine: The main aim of the mapped engine is to determine the level of the engines pefromance and testing difference across the different variable effects acting on the engine perfomance.the data is used from the lookuptables like brake torque fuel flow efficinecy this system are desigined analyasis which does not require any subsystem. This system are less accurate. This model works faster and runs based on the data given in look up tables. The mapped engine block is shown below figure.

Dynamic engine : It represnts the actual actual componets of the power train block set thes type of engines are mainly used to desigin and control purpose ,This type of engine are mainly depends on the subsytems. This system are more accurate compare to the mapped engine.

Mapped motor and Dynamic motor: Mainly the mapped motor works on the princple of torque control menthod and dynamic motor uses the three phase permanent magnet motor. In mapped motor the simulation is faster compare to the dynamic motor. And the dynamic motor are more accurate compare to the mapped motor.
Mapped generator and Dynamic generator: Mainly mapped generator act as automatic because the required data is taken from the look uptables were as the dynamic generator act as manually during importing the data the time required for the siumulation results is very less in mapped generators but in case of the dynamic generator it takes more time to represent the simulation results.
Steps involed in changing the model type:-
1) Intially open the Ev refernce application model simulink.
2) Now open the passenger car block by double clicking.
3) Then in the select the electric plant block and open it.
4) Now click on the right buttuon in the mouse you will find the variant options.

Question:2
Aim: To find how does the model calculate miles per gallon? And Which factors are considered to model fuel flow?
Answer: The fuel efficiency calculation is most important to describe the vehicle perfromance. so here the fuel efficiency is calculated by the miles / gallon. and for the Hybrid vehicles it is calculated by the miles/gallon equivalent .To know the perfomance calculations then we should follow the below steps
Steps to know perfomance calculations:
1) open the ev refernce application block simulink.
2)Then click on the visualization block.and open it.
3) Then you find the performance calculation block open it .
4) There you wii find the calculations

Factors to be consider for the model fuel flow:-
There are mainly three inputs are consider for the model fuel flow they are
1) vehicle speed 2) battery power 3) fuel flow
In the vehicle speed the 1/1000/100 is coverted into the 0.0006213 miles and in the battery power 3600 sec/hr is converted into 0.003785 m^3/gallon similarily in the fuel flow 1000 m^3 to L is converted into the 264.172 m^3 to us gallon.
Question :3
Aim: To Run the HEV ReferenceApplication with WOT drive cycle. Change the grade and wind velocity in the environment block. Comment on the results.

Here we changed the the drive cycle to wot with 40 sec .
Here we aslo changed the environmental block paramters i.e speed changed to 25m/s and the grade changed to 10

Output results

In the plot 1 the top velocity schieved is 40.2mph and time taken to accelerate is 30secand deaccelerate is 2sec
in the plot 2 top motor rpm is 4500 and in plot 3 maximum torque is 300 N-m
In plot 4 battery soc falls to 70-50 % in plot 5 the battery current is 170amps and in plot 6 the us economy achived is 3.25%
Question :4
Aim: Keeping all other parameters same, compare the simulated results of hybrid and pure electric powertrains.
Simulation results for EV:

Simulation for HEV:

conclusion:
The maximu speed obtined by the HEV is higher then compare to EV and aslo batter capcity of Ev is higher then hev and aslo fuel achived in Ev vehicles.
The above tasks as been complted succesfully with required results.
