Q1) SECTION CLASSIFICATION OF BEAMS
A beam is a structural element that is capable of withstanding load primarily by resisting against bending.
Based on yield and plastic moments , sections are classified as :
>Plastic
>Compact
>Semi compact
>Slender

i) ISMB 500 - It is an I section , rolled and develops plastic hinges and rational capacity required for failure of structure. Therefore , it goes under class 1 Plastic.
ii) ISMC 200 - It is an I section , rolled and develops plastic hinges and rational capacity required for failure of structure. Therefore , it goes under class 1 Plastic. Its d/t ratio is 84.
iii) PG 1300 x 450 x 20 x 12 - It is an I section , rolled and develops plastic hinges and rational capacity required for failure of structure. Therefore , it goes under class 1 Plastic. Its d/t ratio is 84.
iv) Double angle (Back to back) – 2 x ISA 75x75x6 - Its b/t ratio is 10.5 . It is Compact section.
v) RHS - 150 x 100 x10 - It falls under box element. Therefore, it is compact section.
vi) Builtup box – 1000 x 450 x 20 x 12 - It falls under box element. Therefore, it is compact section.

Q2) EFFECTIVE LENGTH CALCULATION

According to IS provsions , the support conditions are restrained to rotation , then effective length = 0.75L = 0.75 *40 = 30 m

The effective span of a member that is not built intergrally with its supports shall be taken as clear span plus the effective depth of slab or beam or centre of supports, whichever is less.

Q3) Deflection of beam

Q4) Moment capacity determination

Q5) Purlin Design

ALL THE CALCULATION ARE ROUNDED OFF UPTO APPROXIMATE VALUES
