Week 4 Challenge
AIM:
Calculate the Earth pressure acting on the abutment wall and apply on the STAAD pro.
GIVEN DATA:
- The abutment wall is 5m length
- Backfill soil is 7m height
- The ground level is at 3m above top of foundation level
PROCEDURE:
1.To create a node

2.Next node create in y direction 0.5m

3.To selected a node and copy past in z direction 0.5m and add plate

4.To input the plate thickness 0.45m

5.To using repute method 9 steps, 0.5m distance

6.Select the all the plates using repute method y direction 13 steps, 0.5m distance

7.To select the bottom two nodes repute method use to x direction –0.5m

8.To add the horizontal plates

9.The horizontal plate thickness is 1m

10.To select the plates x direction –0.5 distance.

11.To select the horizontal plates z direction 6 steps, 0.5m distance

12.Select the plates repute the x direction –0.5m

13.Select all plates repute to x direction 3m distance

14.It is shallow foundation so al are fixed supports

15.Go to the load cases details and calculate the earth pressure

16.Go to plate loads > Hydrostatics > select plates in 3m vertical direction > single plates > W1 mine global value is 18*3 = 54 kN/m2

- To select the bottom all plate assign same as all the plates

18.And then go to run analysis > go to post processing mode

RESULTS:
19.Plate result is MY

20.Deflection

21.Bending MY results
