Week 4
AIM: To create mid surface and 2D mesh for the given bottle cap plastic component according to given quality criteria using ANSA.
methodology:
geometry cleanup
midsurface extraction
meshing as per criteria
assinging thickness after mesh
Quality criteria:
| s.no | quality criteria | value |
| 1 | target length | 1 |
| 2 | minimum length | 0.5 |
| 3 | maximum length | 3 |
| 4 | aspect | 3 |
| 5 | warpage | 15 |
| 6 | skewness | 45 |
| 7 | jacobian | 0.7 |
| 8 | min. quad angle | 45 |
| 9 | max quad angle | 135 |
| 10 | min. tria angle | 30 |
| 11 | max. tria angle | 120 |
| 12 | tria % | 15 |
PROCEDURE:
As given component is plastic component and its thickness is very less. So intead of 3D meshing we can go for 2D meshing after proper midsurface extraction of bottle cap.
1. GEOMETRY CLEANUP
The given component is subjected to geometry cleanup. the error is checked and fixed.
2. MIDSURFACING
midsurfacing of component extracted carefully.
3.ASSIGNING SHELL PROPERTY
In a property tab,mid surface are selected and rename according to there name thickness property is appied.
4. MESHING
The given element quality condition is entered into quality criteria tab and it is saved
Batch meshing algorithm is used and element type choosen as mixed.
5.Assigning thickness
separate PID has to be created for each features and parts sp that entire geometry in PID mode will be seen in different colours.
when creating PID there is a option of assigning thickness, there we have to give thickness to each parts.
For example we assign thickness of outer cylinder as 1.22mm.
similarly we will assign thickness of different parts in separate PID.
RESULT
the parts are meshed successfully before assigining thickness of each parts in separate PID.
Learning outcomes
1. able to fix geometrical error in model
2. able to mesh according to quality condition
3. able to assign thickness in seprate PID.
Conclusion
thus 2D mesh is created for given bottle cap according to given element quality criteria using ANSA.
