Week 3
Aim:
To create 2D mesh for the given hood component of a car according to given element quality criteria using ANSA
Methodology:
geometry cleanup
midsurface extraction
assigning shell property
meshing as per criteria
Quality Criteria:
| s.no | qualty criteria | value |
| 1 | target lenght | 5 |
| 2 | warpage | 15 |
| 3 | skewness | 45 |
| 4 | jacobian | 0.7 |
| 5 | min quad | 45 |
| 6 | max quad | 135 |
| 7 | min tria | 30 |
| 8 | max tria | 120 |
| 9 | min length | 3 |
| 10 | max length | 7 |
| 11 | tria percentage | 120 |
procedure:
As a given component is sheet metal part its thickness is very less. so intead of 3D meshing we can go for 2D meshing.
the hood has four separate parts which are hinge reignforcement, latch reignforcement, inner panel, outer panel.
1.Geometry cleanup
the given component is subjected to geometry cleanup. The error are checked and fixed.
.
2. Midsurface extraction:
the midsurface of five parts extracted separetly.
3. assigning shell property
in the property tab, the mid surface are selected and renamed according to their names thickness property is applied successfully.
4. MESHING
the given element quality condition is entered into quality criteria tab and it is saved
Batch meshing algorithm is used and element type is choosen as mixed
Advantage
Batch mesh is fast process and reduce human effort.
Feature capturing is perfectly done in batch meshing
Each part is separetly mesh using batch meshing and element are found to be acceptable
Result
The parts are meshed successfully,The element are visualised in solid representation using shell as solid option in
presentation tab.
Learning outcomes
1.Able to fix the geometrical error in model.
2.able to mesh according to quality condition
Conclusion
Thus 2D mesh is created for given hood component of a car according to given element quality criteria using ANSA.
