Challenge

Week 4-1D Element Creation Challenge

Aim:

The aim of this challenge is to make the 1D connections as per the given question

Procedure:

1.In the first step the mid surface to be taken for each of the surface

2.After the midsurface the surface is to be mesh in the hole are it is meshed with washers

3. After the meshing and errors are cleared the first hole is constrained with rigids of rbe2 with only translation DOF are constrained, the two upper and lower holes are connected through rod element which is in 1D panel where two nodes are to be selected to make the rod element

4.The beam section is created in the hyperbeam as box with a dimension of a=12mm,b=10mm and thickness=0.75mm.

5. Then the separate component is created for the first hole and the property is also created. The property card is selected as PROD and the beam sectiion is also selected and it is then assigned to the component which it is created

6. The same for the second hole which is made of RBE3 elements with all DOF are constrained and it is of a I section of dimension a= 8 mm,b= 10 mm,c= 8.5 mm,Thickness t1= 0.75 mm,t2= 0.6 mm,t3= 0.6 mm in the hyperbeam

7.The RBE3 elements are constrained with beam elements and property card is of PBEAM and it is assigned to the separate component

8.The third hole which is made of RBE3 elements with only X and Y DOF are constrained and it if of a X-section with a dimension of Dimension 1= 5 mm,Thickness 1= 1.2 mm,Dimension 2= 10 mm,Thickness 2= 1.2mm in the hyperbeam

9.The RBE3 elements are constrained with bar elements and property card is set PBAR and it is assigned to the third hole component

10. Then the side holes are constrained with RBE2 elements and it is given a seperate component and in the 1D panel mass are given to the each side of the holes.

11. Then the spring element are given to the sides which connects the two components

learnings:

1.difference between RBE2 and RBE3 elements

2.how to create the 1D elements in the hyperbeam

3.how to create property for the 1D elements

4.difference between rod,bar and beam element

5.how to create spring and masses
