Week 3: Flow over a backward facing step

AIM: Run the Backflow Simulation using Convergence Software.

INTRODUCTION: Here in this case, a fluid flow as it crosses from one cross section to another.

THEORY: in the Fluid Mechanics we all know the Flow of Fluid changes if the cross section area changes.

here in this case, in an Inlet tube, the Pressure is more hence the Velocity of the Fluid is less same in the outlet the Pressure is less hence Velocity is more

Air as a Fluid is Used

Navier stokes and Reynolds Formula is used in Convergence

EXPERIMENT:

case setup

Mesh size dx=0.002, dy=0.002,dz=0.002

a.1> Mass Flow Rate

a.2> Average velocity

a.3> Static Pressure

b> Mesh size dx=0.0015, dy=0.0015,dz=0.0015;

b.1> mass Flow rate

b.2> Average Velocity

b.3> Static Pressure

c> Mesh Size dx=0.001, dy=0.001,dz=0.001;

c.1> Mass Flow rate

c.2> Average Velocity

c.3> Static Pressure
