Week 3 Challenge : CFD meshing on Turbocharger
Objective:
To perform a geometrical check for the given geometry and to create appropriate volumes.
To create and assign PIDs and perform the surface mesh with the given target length.
- Blade stage-1 = 1 mm
- Blade stage-2 = 1 mm
- Impeller = 2 mm
- Shaft rotor = 1 mm
- Turbo casing = 5 mm
- Compressor casing = 5 mm
- Inlet casing cover = 5 mm
Procedure:
- Import the geometry to ANSA
- Topology cleanup is done on the model. First, the overlapping surfaces are deleted, next, the missing surfaces are redrawn, and appropriate Property IDs (PIDs) are provided to different parts of the geometry
- After creating the PID and removing all the errors surface mesh is created mesh size is given differently for different components mesh size can be seen below for different components.
- After creating the surface mesh, Volume mesh is created by going to volume mesh and right-click to define the whole database which will detect the volume which can be volume meshed for fluid flow simulation. some volumes which are not necessary are deleted
Conclusion
- Surface and volume mesh is carried out successfully.
