Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool

1. For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.

Steps :

1. Open the code and run in the MATLAB

2. Start the Advisor tool

3. Select the particular vehicle

4. Change the parameter as required

5. Like the Gradeability , Speed, Mod of Battery

Conclusion : If we put the load of 500 kg with all default conditions, vehicle can only be run upto 7.5 miles i.e is equal to 12 km only not upto 45 km.If user wants to run the vehicle upto 45 km then,have to increase the battery capacity vehicle.

2. In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.

Conclusion : If we increase the no. of mod of battery then vehicle can run upto 29.8 miles which is equal to 47.68 km with 500 kg cargo.

3. Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file

Compare your results in table and conclude.

Case 1 :

[ With 20% gradeability & 55 kmph speed]

Case 2 :

[ With 30% gradeability and 55 kmph speed ]

Conclusion : When we kept gradeability as 20 % and set the speed at 55 kmph then vehicle can run upto 2.9 miles = 4.64 km . And in second case if gradeability is increased by 10% i.e 30% the with same speed the vehicle can only reach upto 0.8 miles = 1.28 km.
