Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool

1. For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.

inthe ADVISOR vehicle input GUI selecr load file as 'EV_defaults_in file' from the drop down menu. Also change the Cargo mass to 500 kg in the bottom right cirner of the interface

then keeping all tje parameters as default select 'RUN' in the bottom right corner of the interface.

in the above result we can analysis that desitance is 11 kms .so the vehicle can not travel a distance of 45 km in a single recharge, and also it can seen that State of charger(SOC) second plot has fallen to 60 % after 2500 seconds.

2. In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.

changing the energy to 'ESS_PB65_FOCUSEV' and keeping the other parameters similar to the last case.

from the results we can see that distance is 17.8 km and the figure has not changed but the SOC % at the end of 2500 seconds is 0.83 approx and not zero like last case.so get how much distance the vehicle will travel in an single charge we need to increase the number of drive cycle for which the simulation is performed and it will perform the simulation for 7 drive cycles.

from the above results we can observe that the distance (km) 59 and alo the second plot is 0% by 13000 seconds approx. sp in a single charge with this configurations can travel a distance of 59.7 kms in a single charge.

3) Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file

Compare your results in table and conclude.

in the load file drop down menu select 'PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_ in and rest of the parameters are kept default.

in the above picture we can see that gradeability at 55 mp/h is 1.7 %

by changing the speed the gradeability at 35 mp/h is 2.4 %.

here, we can see that the gradeability is increasing when the speed is decreasing.
