Week 3 Challenge

Here are the general steps involved in designing and analyzing a bridge using the information provided:

  1. Determine the design parameters: The design parameters for a bridge include the span, pier height, pier spacing, deck width, and the type of girder to be used. In this case, we have a span of 25m, a pier height of 10m, and a pier spacing of 26m.

  2. Choose the appropriate I Girder: Once the design parameters have been determined, we can choose the appropriate I Girder to be used. The choice of the I Girder will depend on the load capacity required, the length of the span, and other design factors.

  3. Model the bridge in Staad Pro: Using the design parameters and the chosen I Girder, we can model the bridge in Staad Pro. Staad Pro is a structural analysis software that allows us to create a 3D model of the bridge and simulate its behaviour under different loads.

  4. Apply the IRS railway loads: After creating the 3D model in Staad Pro, we can apply the IRS railway loads to the bridge. These loads include the dynamic loads from the train, dead load, live load, and other loads specified by the IRS.

  5. Perform the structural analysis: With the loads applied to the bridge model, we can then perform the structural analysis using Staad Pro. The software will calculate the structural behaviour of the bridge, including stresses, deflections, and other factors.

  6. Evaluate the results: Once the structural analysis is complete, you can evaluate the results to determine whether the bridge design meets the required standards and load capacity. If the bridge design does not meet the required standards, you may need to adjust the design parameters or choose a different I Girder to meet the required load capacity. I have done analysis in stadd Pro. Please find the following Reports, 3D Model with Various IRS Loading Diagrams and Stadd File for your reference.
